After spinning off its electronics arm, DuPont makes protective materials and water purification systems.
The remaining portfolio is materials whose names became generic: fibre for body armour, flame-resistant fabric for protective clothing, breathable membrane for construction. Each product holds a niche where properties matter rather than price, confirmed by testing and standards.
The second half is membranes and filters for water purification, from industrial units to desalination. Demand is structural: water quality requirements tighten while sources deplete. Separating the electronics business was done so that each part is valued on its own terms. Risks: the industrial cycle, litigation over persistent contaminants and raw material prices. A dividend is paid.
