Result

Fill in the fields to see the calculation.

How to use it

  1. 1
    Enter prices and quantity

Purchase price, sale price and the number of securities. Broker fees can be added separately — they reduce the gain.

  2. 2
    Enter the holding period

Full years since purchase. It decides the right to the long-term holding relief.

  3. 3
    Read the result

Gain, deduction, taxable base, tax and the net amount are in the table below the form.

Questions

How does the progressive rate work?
The higher rate applies only to the part of income above the threshold, not to the whole amount. Income up to the threshold is taxed at the basic rate, and one rouble over it does not retroactively make the whole sum more expensive.
What is the long-term holding relief?
If a security was held for at least the statutory period, the gain on its sale is exempt up to a limit for each full year of holding. The period is counted by the calendar: bought on 1 March and sold on 1 March three years later qualifies.
Why is the tax zero rather than negative on a loss?
A loss does not return money by itself. It can offset tax on other trades in the same year or be carried forward, but those are separate rules the calculator has no data for.

What this figure does not mean

This is an estimate, not a tax return. The broker withholds tax on its own data: it knows about losses carried from previous years, tax-advantaged accounts, netting across brokers and separate tax bases — the calculator knows none of that and does not guess. The result shows the order of magnitude for one trade, not the amount due for the year.
