IPO price range

The bounds announced in advance within which the sale price of shares in a placement will be set.

How to read the number

It guides how orders are placed and simultaneously signals the valuation the issuer is aiming for.

When the metric lies

The bounds are moved until the book closes, and in either direction: a range is an invitation to bargain, not a promise of price.
