Meeting record date
The day on which the circle of holders entitled to vote is fixed: a date of its own, distinct from the dividend one.
How to read the number
Voting rights and payment rights are fixed on different days, usually with time between them: a holder can vote and still sell before the dividend record date.
When the metric lies
A buyer arriving after that day takes no part in the meeting, even while holding the share on the day it is held.
