Primary listing

The main venue on which a security has been admitted and whose rules govern its trading.

How to read the number

It sets the disclosure and governance requirements the issuer must meet and determines inclusion in that venue's indices.

When the metric lies

Moving the primary venue changes both the applicable rules and the holder base: funds tied to the former index sell the share regardless of how the business is doing.
