Quasi-treasury shares
Shares in an issuer registered to a company it controls: legally another party's, economically its own.
How to read the number
The practical difference from directly held treasury stock is that these shares do vote and do receive dividends, while the money stays inside the group.
When the metric lies
Those votes strengthen management and the controlling holder at a meeting even though no outside capital stands behind them.
