Unclaimed dividend
A declared amount the holder never received, usually because of stale payment details or an unresolved custody matter.
How to read the number
The claim survives for a limited period: the money can be requested within the term set by statute, after which it returns to retained earnings.
When the metric lies
The loss is easy to miss — nobody notifies a holder that a remittance failed. Reconciling what was declared against what was credited is his own job.
