Financial anxiety in Tajikistan on a 0 to 100 scale: the higher the value, the further searches about the US dollar exchange rate and about bank deposits run above the country's usual level.
The mapping to the 0–100 scale is the same for every component. The rank of the current value among its own values in a window of 156 observations (a percentile); at least 52 observations are required.
| Component | What it measures | Direction | Weight, % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Searches about the dollar rate | The share of searches about the US dollar exchange rate among all searches in the country in a week, relative to its usual level over the previous year | A rise in the measure raises the index value | 50.0 |
| Searches about deposits | The share of searches about bank deposits among all searches in the country in a week, relative to its usual level over the previous year | A rise in the measure raises the index value | 50.0 |
The indicator is the average of the scores of all available components: each carries the same weight.
A value is published when at least 2 of the 2 components are available. Otherwise there is no value for the week: the middle of the scale is never substituted for it.
The result is stored to three decimal places; the page shows one.
| Zone | Value |
|---|---|
| Quiet | 0–25 |
| Below-usual interest | 25–45 |
| Usual interest | 45–55 |
| Elevated interest | 55–75 |
| Surge of interest | 75–100 |
The lower bound belongs to the zone: a value of 75 is already “surge of interest”.
Each week's searches are compared with their usual level over the previous year, and the resulting ratio with its own values over three years. A value therefore shows how unusual interest is for this country, not where it is higher: values of different countries should not be compared with each other. A slow rise or decline in interest does not move the value — only a departure from the usual level does.
The indicator is based on queries in a single search engine, mostly in Russian, and reflects the interest of its users in the country rather than of the whole population.
The value is updated once a week. A week runs from Monday to Sunday and enters the calculation after it ends, within seven days at most. A value is dated by the day the week's data became known, not by the week itself.
Searches about deposits also rise when banks raise their rates: a high value points to attention to the topic, not necessarily to fear.
The indicator has been calculated weekly since 4 October 2026. Values for earlier dates were reconstructed with the same rules from historical weekly data; each week enters the calculation seven days after it ends.
The indicators section publishes the indicator value and the component scores on a 0–100 scale — the results of our own calculation. The underlying figures the scores are derived from (the number and share of search queries) are not included.
Each version of the method is described on its own page, and that page does not change. If the calculation changes, a new version gets its own page and this one stays at its address.
The indicator reflects market statistics and does not constitute individual investment advice.
