Whether more Russian issuers are buying their own shares or selling them: a 0 to 100 scale where 50 means an even split and higher values mean more buying.
The mapping to the 0–100 scale is the same for every component. A linear scale: a value of −1 gives 0 and a value of 1 gives 100; beyond those limits the score stays at the end of the scale.
| Component | What it measures | Direction | Weight, % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buyers over sellers, 30 days | The number of buying issuers minus selling issuers, divided by their total, over 30 days | A rise in the measure moves the index towards buying | 50.0 |
| Buyers over sellers, 90 days | The number of buying issuers minus selling issuers, divided by their total, over 90 days | A rise in the measure moves the index towards buying | 50.0 |
The indicator is the average of the scores of all available components: each carries the same weight.
A value is published when at least 1 of the 2 components are available. Otherwise there is no value for the day: the middle of the scale is never substituted for it.
The result is stored to three decimal places; the page shows one.
| Zone | Value |
|---|---|
| Mostly selling | 0–25 |
| More selling | 25–45 |
| Balanced | 45–55 |
| More buying | 55–75 |
| Mostly buying | 75–100 |
The lower bound belongs to the zone: a value of 45 is already “balanced”.
Issuers are counted, not messages: an issuer is a buyer if it disclosed more purchases than sales over the period, and a seller otherwise. Transaction size is not taken into account.
The calculation covers transactions by the issuer itself, its controlled entities and members of its governing bodies. Repo transactions are excluded: the return of securities in the second leg of a repo is not a purchase. Large holders crossing ownership thresholds are not included and appear only in the list of transactions.
A transaction is dated by the day it was disclosed, not the day it took place: before disclosure nobody knew about it. If too few transactions were disclosed over a period, the component is not calculated.
The indicator has been calculated daily since 5 October 2026. Values for earlier dates were reconstructed with the same rules from the disclosure archive.
The indicators section publishes the indicator value and the component scores on the 0–100 scale — these are the results of our calculation. The underlying values the scores are derived from (yields and exchange index values) are not included. The events the indicator is built from are shown as a separate list with a link to every notice.
Each version of the method is described on its own page, and that page does not change. If the calculation changes, a new version gets its own page and this one stays at its address.
The indicator reflects market statistics and does not constitute individual investment advice.
