Open interest
How much money sits in perpetual futures, and which way the total is moving
A perpetual future is a contract on a coin's price with no expiry date. Open interest on it is the total value of positions still held: how much money is riding on a price move right now. Open interest rising alongside the price means fresh money coming in; rising while the price falls means positions are being built against the move. The figure describes the state of play, not where the price will go.

The total covers the venues we watch: Binance, Bybit. Perpetual futures also trade on other exchanges, so this is close to, but not, the whole market.
The 24-hour change is shown only when the same coins and the same venues went into both figures: otherwise what grew would be our coverage, not the positions.
