About the coin
USYC is a share in a short-duration yield fund recorded as a token: the portfolio holds US Treasury obligations and reverse repurchase agreements. It was created by the Hashnote team and later came under Circle, the company behind USDC. Formally it is a fund interest rather than a money claim, and that distinction governs everything else.
It differs from a settlement stablecoin in kind, not degree. USYC makes no promise of a constant one-dollar price; its value rises as the fund accrues interest. Only vetted institutional participants may hold it, not any wallet owner. Valuation and redemption follow the fund's rules and business calendar while the token itself moves around the clock.
The practical use is collateral that earns: trading venues accept the token as margin, which spares a desk from parking idle dollars. The trade-offs are a restricted holder base and dependence on a single manager and its administrator.
USYC makes no promise of a constant price; it appreciates with the fund's income, so comparing it directly with a settlement stablecoin is a mistake.
