About the coin
The issuer's promise to exchange one token for one dollar is the whole basis of SoFiUSD's peg, as it is for any fiat-backed stablecoin. The practical role of such an instrument is plain: settlement and parking a balance between trades, moving over a blockchain in minutes and independent of banking hours. The strength of the peg rests entirely on reserve quality and redemption rules, not on the market. The token itself pays nothing: interest on the reserve stays with the issuer or is shared under a separate agreement.
