About the coin
World Liberty Financial is a US decentralised-finance venture publicly associated with Donald Trump's family. WLFI was distributed as a governance token through open sale rounds and was initially non-transferable between wallets; holders later voted to lift that restriction, after which the token began trading. Selling a governance token to the general public is itself unusual — such tokens are more often handed to protocol participants.
The token confers a vote on protocol decisions and is not a share in a company or a claim on its profits. A separate product of the venture is the dollar stablecoin USD1, whose issuance does not depend on the WLFI price. Distribution structure and unlock schedules matter more to a holder here than the technology.
Pricing for an asset like this is driven first by the political and media backdrop around the project rather than by protocol metrics: the product side is younger and smaller than the attention it attracts, which makes the token behave unlike its sector peers.
The token was non-transferable at first and became tradable only after a holder vote.
