About the coin
Settlement speed and optional privacy are what Dash bet on when it forked away from Bitcoin's code: a transfer confirms almost instantly, and coin mixing is available as a separate feature. The network runs on two tiers — alongside miners sit masternodes that vote on spending part of the block reward on development. That treasury model appeared here long before it became common industry practice, and the present name was adopted only after two early renamings.
