About the coin
The successor to MATIC: in 2024 the Polygon network migrated its main asset to POL, keeping the same job — paying fees and staking on a chain compatible with the Ethereum virtual machine. The swap ran one to one, so a holder's economics did not change at the transition. The design intent of POL is broader than before: the same staked token is meant to secure several chains of the ecosystem at once. The engineering direction is Ethereum scaling, including zero-knowledge proof systems.
