About the coin
A long hexadecimal address is replaced by a readable name in the .eth zone: the name is registered as an on-chain record, renewed by an annual fee, and can carry profile data. That made a wallet address something you can say out loud, and it became a sign-in primitive across many applications. Registration is finite: an unrenewed name returns to circulation, and a secondary market in names has grown around that. ENS is the governance token for registration rules, pricing, and the treasury.
