About the coin
The rate on each asset comes out of the ratio between what is borrowed and what is supplied, rather than being set by hand — that is Compound, one of the first lending protocols on Ethereum. In the summer of 2020 the distribution of COMP to lenders and borrowers started the liquidity mining craze that defined the whole cycle. It was among the first to hand governance to token holders, and dozens of projects copied its voting model. COMP still governs market parameters.
Governance is fully on-chain: parameter changes pass through a proposal, a vote, and a timelock rather than a team decision.
