Editorial policy

Standards for handling data and texts, how material is checked and how corrections are made.

Updated: 7 September 2026

Principles

  • Facts are kept apart from judgements; every statement is traceable to a primary source.
  • We publish no invented numbers, no forecasts dressed as facts and no clickbait.
  • We always state the standard, the period and how current a figure is.
  • We stay on our subject — market data and calculations for the markets we show — and outside our competence we say nothing.

Automation and review

Some materials (event cards, short summaries) are prepared with automation and algorithms over structured data. The method of preparation is stated under the material itself: we do not pass an automated compilation off as authored text, and we do not name “AI” as an author. Such texts are reviewed and rely solely on stored data with the source named.

Correcting errors

If you spot an inaccuracy in the data or the text, tell us through the Contacts page. We check the report, verify it against the primary source and make the correction. Material corrections that change the meaning are reflected in an updated version with a new revision time.

Primary sources

We work with official and public sources (see Methodology) and do not rewrite someone else's paid material under our own name. Where applicable, we link to the primary source.

Advertising, partnerships and the subscription

The platform earns from subscriptions, advertising and partner placements. Every such placement is labelled in the block itself: paid advertising is marked as advertising with the advertiser named, an affiliate link is marked as a partner link. Either link carries no search ranking weight. A labelled block is the only form a paid placement can take on the platform.

The “Where to buy this security” block on an instrument page lists brokers that offer the security. The list is compiled by us, is not exhaustive and is not investment advice. Its links come in two kinds and we tell them apart: one marked “Partner” earns the platform a commission for an opened account, an unmarked one is a plain reference that earns us nothing. The order of the brokers is fixed in advance and is the same for every security: it depends neither on the commission nor on the kind of link.

Payment does NOT affect scores, ratings, the order of instruments in lists or the content of our material. No metric is computed differently for those who paid: figures are calculated by code from source data, and an advertiser can change neither the formula nor the result. The editorial team does not clear material with advertisers and does not withdraw it on their request.

Revising the documents

Under the heading of every document stands the date of its last revision. One rule governs it: the date changes together with the text and only together with it. A date updated automatically would report a revision that never happened; a date frozen while the text changed would promise an older wording. We treat both as errors of the same weight as an error in a number.

The full order — what writes the text, what a model does and does not do, how numbers are verified and who checks them before publication — is set out in a separate document, How we use language models.

Every article carries a form for reporting an error: it takes a report without registration and prints a reference number straight away, so the report can be cited. Substantive corrections are printed under the article, and the site-wide log is open at Corrections log.
