About the coin
This chain is what remained of the original Terra network after its algorithmic stablecoin UST collapsed in the spring of 2022. The mechanism meant to hold the peg by minting and burning against it drove LUNA issuance to astronomical levels during the exit and wiped out the token's value. After the collapse the project split: a new chain took the old name, while this one kept the Classic suffix and is run by its community. The episode became the textbook case of algorithmic peg fragility.
The classic chain is community-run only: Terraform Labs development moved to a separate new network after the collapse.
