Changing its own rules without splitting the chain is something Tezos was built for from the start: upgrades are proposed, voted on by holders, and installed automatically. Its second hallmark is formal verification — the contract language is designed for mathematical proofs of correctness, which appealed to institutional issuers, and European financial firms have placed tokenised securities on the network. Holders join consensus by delegating stake to node operators and share in block rewards.
