Cooper Companies makes contact lenses and equipment for reproductive medicine.
Lenses are an ideal consumable: daily disposables are thrown away every day, and a patient fitted with a suitable brand by an optometrist buys it for years. Switching requires a new fitting, so it happens rarely. The market grows along with the spread of myopia, especially among children.
The second half is instruments and consumables for assisted reproduction laboratories. Demand grows with the rising age at first birth but runs into the cost of a cycle for the patient and into insurance coverage. Risks: competition from several large lens makers, currency rates and clinic capital budgets. The company pays essentially no dividend.
