Hasbro is known for toys but earns above all from board and collectible card games.
The toy business is hard: seasonal, dependent on film releases and on the buying of a few large chains, with thin margins. Board and card games work differently — they have a permanent community of players buying new releases for years, and digital versions that earn without manufacturing or logistics.
That part supplies most of the profit on a smaller share of revenue, and the company is shifting toward it while increasingly licensing physical toys to other manufacturers. Risks: collector fatigue, competition for attention from video games and tariffs on imported toys. Licensing its own characters to film and game studios adds income with no manufacturing at all. The dividend is high.
