Tesla builds electric cars, but its valuation rests less on selling them than on promises around autonomy and energy storage.
The automotive business supplies most of the revenue. The company manufactures in the United States, China and Germany and sells direct, without a dealer network, which gives control over price and lets it move quickly. Recent price cuts bought volume with margin — and the balance between those two is what shapes each quarter.
The second line is energy storage: grid-scale systems and home batteries. It grows faster than automotive and has a market of its own, independent of car demand. The third part is software: the paid driver-assistance package, a charging network now open to other brands, and the sale of regulatory credits to rival manufacturers.
The central argument around the company is valuation. It stands well above any other carmaker and is justified by the future: robotaxis, full autonomy, humanoid robots. None of those yet produces revenue, so the share price responds to timelines and management statements more sharply than to current deliveries.
