This is the voting share class of Fox Corporation — the news, sport and broadcast business left after the film studios were sold.
The company kept what people watch live and therefore cannot replace with a subscription to an archive: news and sport are the only genres for which viewers switch a television on at an appointed hour. The entertainment assets were sold, and that was a calculation rather than a forced move.
The company has two share classes, and the difference is fundamental: this one carries voting rights and therefore determines control, while the other, more liquid class gives the same claim on profit without influence over decisions. Income comes from live advertising and from operators' fees for carrying a channel; the second part shrinks as viewers abandon cable. A dividend is paid.
