SBA Communications owns mobile towers in America and a notable share of them in Brazil.
A tower is built once but can carry several tenants: each additional carrier adds almost no cost while paying a full rent. Leases are long with annual escalators, and a carrier has nowhere to move — coverage is tied to a specific point on the map.
What distinguishes the company is a large share of revenue outside the United States, above all in Latin America, where mobile penetration grows faster but currency risk is added. Tenants in each market are few, and their mergers are the main threat: a combined carrier abandons duplicate sites. The trust form obliges distributing profit; the dividend is small but growing.
