Rollins deals with insects and rodents under contract — a service people do not cancel in a downturn.
The customer subscribes to regular visits rather than ordering a one-off treatment: pests come back, and prevention is cheaper than fighting an infestation. Hence revenue that recurs almost entirely and very low churn — the payment is small and the thought of cancelling rarely arises.
The economics come down to route density: a technician covers as many addresses in a day as the geography allows, and each additional customer along the way adds almost no cost. That is why the company buys local firms together with their customer lists. Risks: labour costs, weather affecting pest activity and acquisition prices. A dividend is paid and raised.
