A stablecoin that comes into existence as a loan: the user posts collateral in the Aave protocol and mints GHO, and the coins are burned when the debt is repaid. The borrowing rate is set by a vote of Aave governance token holders, which makes GHO an instrument of a whole protocol's monetary policy rather than a company's product. The backing is over-collateralised, and the interest paid on loans goes to the community treasury rather than to an issuing firm.
