Orders rather than general-purpose computation sit at the centre of Sei: the network was designed for trading and optimises latency and execution ordering. Its early version was built on Cosmos tooling and offered an order book at the protocol level rather than inside a single application. After the move to Ethereum virtual machine compatibility, applications can be ported to it without a rewrite. SEI pays fees and secures proof of stake, with exchanges and derivatives venues gathered around it.
