About the coin
A chain whose real workload is moving dollar tokens. Fees are low, and part of the network's capacity can be obtained by freezing coins instead of paying per transaction: bandwidth and compute are lent to the holder against that frozen collateral. That is how TRON became the cheap rail for retail USDT settlement, particularly where bank transfers are awkward.
Consensus runs on delegated proof of stake: coin holders vote for a limited set of nodes that produce the blocks. The arrangement buys speed and predictability at the cost of decentralisation — the roster of block producers is short and known by name. Its virtual machine is EVM-compatible, so contracts port over almost unchanged and the token issuance standard mirrors the familiar one.
The project was founded by Justin Sun and remains closely bound to his ventures and trading platforms. Its own application ecosystem is thinner than its peers': the chain wins on transfer cost and user habit rather than on the range of services it offers.
A large share of global USDT turnover moves over this chain — demand for TRX rests on its role as transport for someone else's token rather than on native applications.
