Evergy supplies electricity to Kansas and Missouri — a regulated utility with a nuclear plant in its fleet.
The model is the sector's usual one: a state commission approves tariffs so the company recovers what it invested and earns the allowed return, so the capital plan replaces a revenue forecast. The nuclear unit provides round-the-clock emission-free output — an asset whose value rose along with demand for constant power.
After two decades of stagnation, consumption is rising again: manufacturing and data centres are arriving in the region, and building is permitted to serve them. A separate factor is Kansas's wind resource, among the best in the country. Risks: decisions by two different state commissions, borrowing costs and weather. A dividend is paid and raised.
